Welcome to the website of the East London Community Band.

We are a registered charity based in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Our aim is to bring affordable music-making to all, irrespective of age, income and whether a complete beginner or more accomplished.

We provide a supportive and non-competitive environment which is reflected in our teaching methods and the music we play. We rehearse on Friday evenings at the Shadwell Centre near Limehouse DLR.

Please feel free to browse our tuition and playing opportunities.

Choice of Ensembles

We offer a range of bands to suit all levels of experience including those just starting out. You can enjoy a wide-ranging repertoire from film music and big band jazz to popular classics.

There are also dedicated jazz and percussion ensembles.

Tuition for Beginners

Children from 6 years old can receive early evening instrumental lessons. These are one-to-one as far as possible and are arranged with a view to joining our starter band, the 'Premier Band', as soon as sufficiently experienced.

Adult beginners can also take lessons subject to availability and follow the same learning path as the children.

Opportunities to Perform

Informal end-of-term concerts give our bands and soloists the chance to play their pieces to each other as part of their preparation for more public concerts. It is also a great time for parents and friends to come along to hear how their children are doing.

The bands also perform at many local community events and school summer fetes.
